7) What is a phrase? This is a continuation of the lesson on grammar list #1.
a) Prepositional phrases : These always start with a preposition and end with a noun.
Examples: 1) in the park 2) at 6 pm For more information, here is a link.
b) Verb phrases (also called phrasal verbs) : These have more than 1 verb.
Example: I have gotten up late everyday this week. For more information, here is a link.
c) Infinitive phrase : This phrase always starts with an infinitive — examples are “to be” or “to get over” and so on.
Example: To get over his sickness, he slept a lot. For more information, here is a link.
d) gerund phrases : This phrase starts with a word ending with “ing.”
Example: Swimming in a pool is good exercise. For more information, here is a link.
